It is Banned Book Week, and Lisa has put together a marvellous display in the Centre for the Child. It is entertaining and surprising to see what books have been banned at some time in their history somewhere in the world.

Thanks for that Helen, I was surprised to see “Where the wild things are” there! There was a nice Unshelved strip the other day in celebration of Banned Book week

Of course the ALA keeps a list of Banned books at its Banned books place – and very interesting lists they are.
But I wonder is there a list of New Zealand titles – banned and/or challenged titles?

There is a 1981 book called Books You Couldn’t Buy : censorship in New Zealand.
I think someone was going to do a MLIS research project on this, but I didn’t see it on the past projects list.
