The Christchurch City Council website: things to do in summer

PhotoChristchurch City Council City & Leisure has a full list of council web pages featuring leisure options.   This may be news to some of our customers so while everyone’s in a holiday mood  remember to showcase this fun aspect of the Christchurch City Council website.

Each page has lots of links to further council pages and to useful non-council sites in columns to the left and right of the main text.

Events & Festivals has links to the iconic festivals in Christchurch:  Ellerslie International Flower Show, World Buskers Festival and sporting events such as the SBS Marathon.  Community events include Garden City SummerTimes and Matariki.

BeThere promotes large public events attracting at least 500 people such as Guy Fawkes Night or the recent Ron Mueck Exhibition.

Arts and Culture has links to Christchurch heritage, Our City O-Tautahi and Art in the City

Parks and Walkways includes the Botanic Gardens, parks around Christchurch, park walks, river and water walks.  Check the Parks and Reserves A-Z for the location, size and any amenities of all the city parks, including the little ones.

Walking includes the Walk n Talk programmes, Sunday Walk and tips for walking.

Leisure clubs for older adults and Holiday programmes for children are on the Community Services page.

Don’t forget  Recreation and Sport Facilities for a rundown of what’s available at the pools and fitness centres.
