Finding Press death notices quickly

cemeteryIf you’ve ever experienced the frustration of hunting for a death notice without knowing the exact date of death you may be interested to know that The Press is in the process of creating an index to its death notices.

Working backwards from the present, it lists the name and date that the death notice appeared in The Press. Currently it goes back as far as 2000. The actual death notice can be seen on microfilm in the Aotearoa New Zealand Centre.

You can get to the index quickly by going to the Stuff website and entering the phrase, Death Notices in the search box. Scroll down to Death Notices List of Names, click and  go to the PDF Files provided.
